Quantitative and Qualitative Primary Data Collection

One of the skills area that sets SIAPAC apart is that the firm has decades of experience in designing, implementing, and reporting in primary data collection with particular expertise in quantitative surveys. This skills area was developed early in SIAPAC’s career in the 1980s, and remains important to this day. We manage enormous surveys covering large populations, have worked under extremely difficult conditions in fragile states, and developed robust quality control routines that are central to effective survey implementation.

We are especially experienced in integrating qualitative approaches into broader surveys, and employ a wide range of qualitative and participatory tools in the process.

We are sometimes contracted to focus on primary data collection to inform large-scale programmes, while in other cases we are contracted to conduct a single survey at a single point in time. We also apply our survey and qualitative skills to SIAs, evaluations, and in our work providing support for results-based Monitoring and Evaluation.
