Social Impact Assessment

SIAPAC has worked in the environmental impact assessment arena with a specific focus on Social Impact Assessment, and related skills and experience in Social Action Planning, Resettlement Action Planning, and long-term monitoring of the effects of interventions on affected populations. We have worked in the SIA arena in terms of area planning, structure plans, strategic EIAs, sectoral EIAs, pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, detailed design and implementation.

Our particular skills in this area include the ability to meet the requisite requirements of SIAs, but also includes the development and implementation of means to engage with people least likely to be engaged in public participation processes. We endeavour to ensure that their voices are heard, and that they are actively involved in decisions that affect their lives.

We have worked in a wide range of fields and have the skills that can be applied across these and other fields, including roads (main, tertiary, remote), mines, agriculture, land reform and land use planning, off-shore developments, shipping and port developments, urban infrastructure, water supply, sanitation systems, power lines, communications infrastructure, and seaside developments.
